Re-roofing

Technically, any refurbishment where more than 25% of the roof needs to be replaced counts as re-roofing. This is relevant because it affects your obligations under UK building regulations. If you are re-roofing then you may need to improve your insulation. In some cases this might make overlaying a better option for you. 

Overlaying a roof

It is often possible to lay a new roofing material over an existing one. This is especially common for flat roofs, where single-ply waterproofing membranes. GPR or a liquid applied roofing can be laid on top of bitumen roofs. The roof decking does need to be in good condition though. Overlaying is a popular choice for extensions or garage roof replacements, where homeowners want a more attractive roof finish than roof felt. 

Roof conversions

Converting a flat roof into a pitched roof is the most common type of roof conversion. We can manage all aspects for you -constructing the roof decking, installing insulation, and either tiling, slating or using another type of waterproofing to finish it off.
